What is a Bar Mitzvah and why is it important?
A Bar Mitzvah for boys or a Bat Mitzvah for girls is a coming-of-age ceremony for Jewish children when they reach the age of 13. This ceremony marks the time when a boy or girl becomes a Jewish adult. This means that they are now responsible for their own actions and can decide for themselves how they would like to practice Judaism.
Miles has been working hard for many years and especially over the past several months to prepare for his Bar Mitzvah. He will lead the ceremony before his family and friends. He will recite traditional prayers in Hebrew, read in Hebrew from the Torah, give a speech about his Torah portion, and honor his family and friends. This is the point at which Miles officially becomes a “bar mitzvah.” After the ceremony, we will all move on to the party to celebrate Miles and his hard work!

What is the attire?
Aspen Summer Chic
We'll be eating, drinking, playing games and dancing the night away. Think summer party dresses for girls and collared shirts and long pants for the guys. Jackets and ties are also appropriate but not required. Sneakers are encouraged for dancing! We will be outside on grass for the ceremony first hour of the party so bring layers, sunglasses and sunscreen. Wedges, block heels or flats are recommended.

What are the transportation details for out-of-town guests?
Round-trip transportation will be provided for all out of town guests from The Gant Hotel to Aspen Meadows Resort at 4:30pm on Saturday, June 7th.

If we are visiting from out of town, will we need a car? What are my transportation options?
If you are staying at The Gant or another place in the heart of Aspen a car is not necessary. The Gant provides a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport as well as to other locations in town and is easily walkable to and from town. Note that you'll need to call The Gant in advance to book a spot on the airport shuttle when you arrive and depart.

There is also an app called The Downtowner that provides free rides all over town. It works similarly to Uber or Lyft but it's free and super reliable. We highly recommend downloading The Downtowner app for easy rides around town.
Note that Uber/Lyft are worth a try, but NOT a reliable option in Aspen. You can call High Mountain Taxi for airport pickups or rides outside of the main town of Aspen.

The public transportation system (RFTA) is also excellent for exploring elsewhere outside of town.
